Dr Mal McKay of Pottsville Acupuncture has been in clinical practice for over 30 years and graduated as a registered practitioner of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine in 1997. He has a wealth of experience treating a great variety of conditions. There is no need to suffer when Acupuncture has such a huge scope of application. He understands how and why disease presents in the body mentally, emotionally and physically. He believes your body knows how to heal itself and it is his job to help the body correct its trajectory from a disease pathway towards a healing pathway and optimal health.

He offers private consultations in his Pottsville Acupuncture clinic next to the Health Hub.

In practice he uses traditional therapeutic methods and evidence-based practices. Including needle and needle-less acupuncture, moxa, electrode acupuncture, various styles of cupping, magnetic heat lamp, ear candling, herbal medicine, therapeutic massage, Gua sha and Tui na.  His aim is to assist those with acute and chronic health issues take control of their lives, be empowered by their choices and realise a better quality of life.

To aid in the continuance of quality health care in Australia, Dr Mal also lectured Traditional Chinese Medicine at University and Supervised student clinic in the 4-year Bachelor of Health Science (Acupuncture) at Endeavour College of Natural Health.

His practice is governed by safe practice legislation and quality assurance policy ensuring delivery of consistently, high professional services.

Initial Acupuncture Consultation – 1 hour and 15 minutes – $146
Consultation including assessment, diagnosis and treatment.

Follow-up Acupuncture Consultation – 50 minutes – $112
Follow-up care acupuncture treatment for continued recovery and address underlying causes.

Pensioner/Health Care Card Initial – 1 hour and 15 minutes – $105
Consultation, health assessment, diagnosis and Acupuncture treatment specifically for pensioners and Health Care Card holders.

Pensioner/Health Card Follow-up Consult – 50 minutes – $83
Follow-up treatment to support recovery and address underlying causes specifically for pensioners and Health Care Card holders.

Extended Follow-up – 1 hour – $146
Intensive treatment for severe conditions or speedier recovery, involving a front and back treatment.

Acupuncture with ½ hour massage – 1 hour and 20 minutes  – $176
Therapeutic massage enhances the effect of Acupuncture in the treatment of joint, back and muscular complaints and pain.

1 Hour Therapeutic Massage – 1 hour – $140
Therapeutic massage applying remedial and Traditional Chinese Medicine principles. Effective for acute and chronic muscular skeletal injury and pain.

Ear Candling – 30 minutes –  $73
Gentle non-invasive way to extract excess wax from the ear canal. This traditional method is warming to the ear and can relieve sinus and ear congestion.
